Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and Mercedes-Benz of Myrtle Beach

Through our partnership with the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, Mercedes-Benz helps honor military service and sacrifice by providing scholarships to veterans and military family members, particularly the children of our nation’s fallen and disabled. Since 2014, Johnny Mac has awarded $6 million in scholarships to over 700 scholars.

Who Was Johnny Mac?

Col. John McHugh was a member of the U.S. Army for 24 years. He was killed in action on May 18, 2010, in Kabul, Afghanistan. His fellow West Point classmates joined together to ensure that his five children would receive a college education. In 2014, that effort grew into the Johnny Mac Fund.
